| Vega chitosan complex has been formulated with a unique combination of
nutrients that may have a synergistic benefi cial eff ect. Many of these nutrients
may help to support the metabolism of dietary fats, energy production and
maintain a healthy cholesterol profi le. Regardless of chitosan’s miraculous overview,
it is a very simple natural substance derived by the de-acetylation of chitin, a marine
polysaccharide fi bre. Chitin is a structural component found in the exoskeleton of
shellfi sh crustaceans, such as shrimp, lobster and crabs. Chitosan has been used
for almost 30 years in many patented water purifi cation technologies to remove
potentially toxic substances such as heavy metals and other contaminants such
as greases and oils. In water purifi cation plants, when chitosan is spread over the
surface of water it acts like a “fat magnet”, literally absorbing greases and oils to
such an extent that a scum forms in the water. This factor suggests to scientists
that chitosan may selectively absorb fat molecules and convert them into a form
that the human body does not digest and absorb. Prolonged use of chitosan
may inhibit the absorption of essential fatty acids, some minerals and fat-soluble
vitamins. To ensure adequate dietary intake of these nutrients, they must be
taken at least 2 to 3 hours away from taking chitosan. It is recommended that this
product is taken as a part of a healthy and balanced diet, with adequate water
intake, regular physical exercise and detoxifi cation of the body, which may help to
maintain a healthy body fat profi le.
Encapsulated in a vegetable cellulose capsule with vegetable magnesium stearate
(lubricant).
