Mineral supplements are dietary supplements that provide at least (and usually more) of the RDA for particular minerals, which are vital for the biochemical processes of life. We have to consume a certain amount of these minerals from our diet. For people who can't easily do this, mineral supplements are great way to do this.

Minerals are vital to our health, however there are so many it is often difficult to keep track. Some of the most important are:

Calcium - essential for the formation and protection of bones and teeth, deficiencies can cause several serious problems

Chromium - influential in the use of glucose and lipids in the body, a lack of which is thought to affect our ability to tolerate glucose

Potassium - essential to the function of nerves, and thought to decrease incidence of stroke or blood pressure

Iodine - required for thyroid health, a lack of which has resulted in hypothyroidism

Iron - well-known for many uses, iron is needed for energy release and transfer of oxygen round the body

Selenium - thought to be one of the most powerful antioxidants, this mineral is used to protect the body from damage

Zinc - plays a part in immunity and healing, a lack of zinc can cause poor health, increased infection and poor sense of smell

We need all these minerals, in varying amounts, to live and breathe. However, it has been suggested that due to modern diets that have lower amounts of natural, raw vegetable-based foods or fresh, high-quality meat than we could or should, many of us unknowingly suffer from a chronic 'background' deficiency.

This lack of minerals (and vitamins) is thought to cause many of today's common conditions, that are so difficult to treat e.g. chronic fatigue syndromes, abnormal pain conditions, IBS, forms of depression, poor immunity etc. Supplementing with minerals or using mineral supplements is believed to prevent these conditions from arising.

    Boron

    Calcium
Calcium is an essential component for the preservation of the human skeleton and teeth.
Unlike most of the people think, there is an intense biological activity inside our bones. They are being renewed constantly by new tissue replacing the old one. During childhood and adolescence, there’s more production of new tissue than destruction of the old one, but at some point, somewhere around the 30 or 35 years of age, the process is inverted and we start to loose more tissue than what we can replace. In women the process is accelerated after the menopause (he period marked by the natural and permanent cessation of menstruation, occurring usually between the ages of 45 and 55); this is because their bodies stop producing the hormone known as estrogen, one of which functions is to preserve the osseous mass.
As well as being required for bone mineralisation calcium also assists the functions of nerves and muscles.

It is most commonly found in milk and milk products, but also in vegetables (broccoli, watercress),fish (sardines) nuts and beans.
A lack of calcium is one of the main causes of osteoporosis, which is a disease in which the bones become extremely porous, are subject to fracture, and heal slowly, occurring especially in women following menopause and often leading to curvature of the spine from vertebral collapse.
People who take little exercise, have osteoporosis, or osteoarthritis may wish to take a calcium supplement.
The Recommended Daily Allowance for Calcium is 800mg and the Upper Safe Level is 1500mg daily.

    Chromium

    Colloidal Silver
    Colloidal Silver
Colloidal silver appears to be a powerful, natural antibiotic and preventative against infections. Acting as a catalyst, it reportedly disables the enzyme that one-celled bacteria, viruses and fungi need for their oxygen metabolism. They suffocate without corresponding harm occurring to human enzymes or parts of the human body chemistry. The result is the destruction of disease-causing organisms in the body and in the food.

    Iodine

    Iron
Iron, is a mineral found in two ionic forms in the body;in a reduced state as ferrous iron and in an oxidized state as ferric iron. Most of the iron in the body is found in the hemoglobin of red blood cells and in the myoglobin of muscle cells where it is required for oxygen and carbon dioxide transport.
Iron also functions in the electron transport chain and other energy cycles. It is also an essential cofactor in the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin.
